Larry Lee

November 29, 1969 — July 24, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Larry Lee Zarate, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend to many, on July 24, 2026. Larry was born on November 29, 1969, in the welcoming community of Edinburg, Texas, in Hidalgo County, where he would go on to touch many lives with his kindness and creativity. Larry was the cherished son of Hilda Zarate and the late Lombardo Zarate Sr. He is predeceased by his father, Lombardo, and his brother, Leslie Michael, whose memories he lovingly kept alive in his heart. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Hilda Zarate, siblings Leticia Zarate, Lombardo Zarate Jr., and Lottie Zarate, as well as numerous nephews and nieces who adored their Uncle Larry. A proud graduate of Edinburg High School's Class of 1988, Larry furthered his education at Texas State Technical College, where he earned his degree in Technology. His career was marked by his self-employment in the IT-Technical field, where his deep knowledge and innovative spirit shone brightly. Yet, perhaps his most rewarding role was that of caregiver to his beloved mother, a testament to his selfless and nurturing nature. Larry possessed a zest for life that was evident in his love for the outdoors, particularly fishing with family and friends—a pastime he cherished. He was an artist at heart, expressing his creativity through drawing, stained glass, and fashion design. Larry took immense joy in sewing his own clothes, crafting jackets and pants with a flair for originality, often collaborating with his mother on these creative projects. Friends and family remember Larry for his quick wit and warm smile, which he shared generously with everyone he met. He was a simple man with a huge heart, always putting others before himself, giving what little he had to bring happiness to those around him. His unselfish nature and compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. In honoring Larry's legacy of kindness, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice. This gesture echoes Larry's lifelong commitment to caring for others and making the world a better place. Though Larry's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched. As we celebrate his life, we hold onto the memories of his laughter, his love, and the beautiful creations he left behind.
