In Loving Memory

Larry John Trahan
February 15, 1953 — April 2, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Larry John Trahan, a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, on April 2, 2026. Larry departed from this world in the comfort of his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering kindness that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Larry was born on February 15, 1953, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to Joseph and Theresa Patten. He spent his formative years in Lafayette, where he attended high school and began to lay the foundation of a life filled with dedication and service to others. The eldest son in a family of five siblings, Larry was predeceased by his parents and siblings Leroy Trahan, Emma Jean James, and Jennifer Patten, and is survived by his dear brothers Jerome and Darryl Patten.
In 2000, Larry married the love of his life, Julie Trahan, a union that was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three beautiful children: Natasha, Arnita, and Imani, while Larry's two other children, Larry Trahan Jr. and Austin Trahan, also experienced the warmth of his fatherly embrace. Though Julie preceded him in death, their love remains an eternal bond that continues to inspire their children and grandchildren.
Larry's career spanned 23 years as a mechanical engineer with United Rentals, where his colleagues came to know him not only for his expertise but for his infectious smile and ability to uplift everyone around him. After his retirement, Larry continued to enrich the lives of those around him through his service as a deacon at Solid Rock COGIC in Portland, Oregon, where he was a cherished member of the congregation, known for his deep faith and love for the Lord.
A man of simple pleasures, Larry found joy in the company of family and friends. His home was often filled with laughter and warmth, especially on Sundays when he could be found passionately cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. Larry was a man who celebrated life in all its forms, and his presence was a source of comfort and happiness to all who knew him.
Larry's legacy lives on in his five grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, and through whom his spirit will undoubtedly continue to shine brightly. Though he did not live to see great-grandchildren, his influence and love will be felt for generations to come.
A service to honor Larry's remarkable life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 10:11 AM at New Promise Church, located at 12851 N 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85029. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, encouragement, and love during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity have been a source of comfort and strength.
In this time of sorrow, we celebrate a life well-lived and a soul who is now at peace. Larry John Trahan will be remembered not only for the life he lived but for the love he gave so freely. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
