Larry Evans

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Evans, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished community member. Larry passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 17, 1958, in Marion, Ohio, to John and Mary Evans, Larry was the embodiment of warmth and kindness. Preceded in death by his beloved brother Don Evans, Larry now leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family: his wife, Mable Evans, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring marriage since June 14, 1992, and their children Sandy Evans, Jonathan Evans, and Timothy Evans. Larry was also the proud grandfather to three adoring grandchildren, whose youthful energy he cherished. Larry was a man of many talents and interests. A graduate of Marion Technical College, he earned certificates in Auto Mechanics and Automotives, which paved the way for a successful 35-year career as a mechanic. Known for his expertise, Larry was always ready to mentor young mechanics and share his knowledge with automotive students, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Larry's dedication to his country was evident through his service in the Army from 1983 to 1987, achieving the rank of Private Corporal. His commitment continued with the National Guard, where he further distinguished himself in Special Operations. His life of service was not limited to the military; he was also an active member of the Rotary Club and the Junior Achievement Organization, where he inspired others with his leadership and community spirit. An avid fisherman, Larry never missed a fishing event or camping trip. His quick and warm smile, coupled with his outgoing personality, made him a beloved figure in the community. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, embodying the very essence of generosity and compassion. A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held on September 28, 2026, at Marion's Southern Chapel, located at 923 Main Street, Marion, OH 43302. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Wounded Warrior Foundation for their support and care. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to Larry's heart. Contributions will continue to support the invaluable work they do. Larry Evans will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
