Larry Dean Marthers

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Dean Marthers, who left this world peacefully on July 29, 2026, at his home. Born on December 21, 1951, in Rock Hill, SC, Larry was a beloved member of the community, known for his kindness and gentle spirit. Larry was the cherished son of Eugene and Marianna Marthers. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, his brother Danny Marthers, and his sister Diane Marthers Parker. Larry is survived by his brother Jerry Wayne Marthers, who stood by him through life's journey. He leaves behind his adoring nephews, Wesley Monroe Parker and Reginald Herald Parker, and his caring nieces, Sarah Marthers Gilbert and Sheena Michelle Parker. Larry's legacy of love and warmth is carried on by several great-nieces and nephews who held him in the highest regard. Throughout his life, Larry demonstrated an unwavering commitment to helping others, working various jobs that often put him at the forefront of customer service. Many knew him from his time as a gas station attendant, where he greeted everyone with a smile and a kind word. A dedicated member of the Mount Holly Methodist Church, Larry found community and solace in his faith. His passions were as diverse as they were simple, reflecting a man who found joy in the everyday wonders of life. Larry had a profound love for dirt track racing, a pastime that brought him great excitement and camaraderie. He delighted in the serenity of nature, often spending his time walking and exploring the outdoors. Western films and movie outings provided him with hours of enjoyment and a connection to the narratives of the past. A memorial service to honor Larry's life will be held on August 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Greene Funeral Home Downtown Chapel, located at 355 E. White St, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will graciously receive visitors from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at Grandview Memorial Park, 620 S Cherry Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization close to their hearts. Larry Dean Marthers will be remembered for his gentle heart, his love for family and friends, and his unwavering spirit. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will forever light the paths of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
