April 26, 1947 — October 6, 2026
Larry Dallas Earley passed away on October 6, 2026 in Greenville, South Carolina at the age of 79. Born on April 26, 1947, in Pennsylvania to Virgilene Wood and Leonard Milton Earley, Larry inherited a profound legacy of service to his country. His father served in World War II and his grandfather in World War I. After spending his teenage years in Apopka, Florida, Larry volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1964. He served in the Vietnam conflict with the 1st Battalion, 92nd Field Artillery division at Fort Hood, Texas. Though seriously injured during the attack, Larry returned fire under an intense assault, and was awarded the Purple Heart for his act of heroism. He was transferred to Germany to recover from his wounds and then returned to Florida to begin a new chapter of life. There he met Esperanza Cordelia Small, and the two were married in 1970. Together they built a family of five children (Graciela Maria [Jamie Joshua], Christy Ann [Kyle Lee], Leonard Dewain [Selene Hernandez], Virginia Lynn [David Schermerhorn], and Larry Dallas Jr. [Tanya Sanguinetti]).
After the loss of both his parents, Larry sought a quieter pace of life and for the last 25 years made his home in South Carolina, living in Easley, Abbeville, Calhoun Falls and Greenville. Psalm23
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4. Yea, though I walk THROUGH the VALLEY of the SHADOW OF DEATH, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
