With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Larry Charles Nemec, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Larry left this world peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 10, 1943, he was the cherished son of Jerome and Renea Nemec, who, along with his brother Jerry Nemec, sister Patty Henderson, daughter Laura Nemec, and beloved dog Jipp, preceded him in death. Larry shared his life with his beloved wife, Mary Calhoon, whom he married on September 7, 1968. Together, they built a beautiful life over fifty-eight years, filled with love, laughter, and enduring companionship. Mary was his steadfast partner and the love of his life, standing by his side through all of life's adventures. Larry is survived by his loving wife Mary, his devoted son Neil and daughter-in-law Kelsey, and his twin brother Richard (Dick) Nemec, who shared an unbreakable bond with him. He is also remembered fondly by his sister Marjorie Iwan, who brought joy and warmth to his life. A man of many talents and passions, Larry's journey began as he earned his pilot's license, a testament to his love for the skies. His fascination with flying led him to become a gifted crop duster pilot, a career that took him to the skies and beyond. His dedication and skill were further honed when he attended airplane mechanic's school, which paved the way for a fulfilling career. For over forty years, Larry worked diligently on airplanes, with a significant portion of his career spent in the Pierre area, where his expertise and work ethic left an indelible mark. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry was an avid outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for nature. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors, embarking on countless hunting trips and attending numerous gun shows. His love for aviation extended beyond his career, as he was a regular presence at airshows throughout the region, sharing his passion with fellow enthusiasts and leaving an impression on all who met him. Larry's life was a testament to the values of hard work, determination, and love for family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the incredible journey he shared with us, filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. A private celebration of Larry's life will be held with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Larry's memory, honoring his spirit of generosity and kindness. Larry Charles Nemec will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, forever soaring in the skies he loved so dearly.
