With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Larry Chard, who left this world peacefully at home on July 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1954, in Bay City, Michigan, Larry was the beloved son of Thomas and Emma Chard. He carried with him the warmth of his hometown throughout his life, touching the lives of all who knew him with kindness and unwavering love. Larry's journey through life was as vibrant as the Michigan landscapes he loved to explore. As a young man, Larry found his calling on the open road, dedicating his career to nationwide truck driving. His stories of the highways were filled with humor and wisdom, and he took pride in connecting towns and cities across the country, always returning home with tales of adventure. A man of great passions, Larry found solace in the great outdoors. His love for camping, fishing, and boating was infectious, and he spent countless weekends by the water, rod in hand, surrounded by family and friends. These simple pleasures were where Larry found his greatest joy, sharing laughter and creating memories with those he loved. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lily Chard, his brother Duane Chard, and sisters Joanne Butler and Elaine Stowe. Though they have gone before him, their spirits remain an indelible part of his story. He leaves behind a loving family to carry on his legacy: his brother Richard Chard, his children Brenda Vargas, George (Shannon) Brissette, Fred (Laura) Brissette, Casey Brissette, Heather Chard, Greg Chard, and Shane Zarbaugh. Larry's life was further enriched by the joy of 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of his heart and continuing the family legacy he so dearly cherished. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Larry's life will be held on July 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Woodlawn Cemetery, located at 1257 Curtis Rd, Curtis, Michigan, 49820. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Larry's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the compassion and generosity that defined his life. Larry Chard will be remembered for his steadfast spirit, his love for family, and his boundless enthusiasm for life's adventures. As we say goodbye, we hold close the memories of his laughter and the lessons he imparted, celebrating a life that touched so many and leaves an enduring legacy.
