Larry Triplett

July 23, 1942 — September 6, 2026

Larry Triplett, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 23, 1942, in Tacoma, Washington, Larry was the beloved son of Gladys and Cecil Triplett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four brothers—Wayne, Steven, Michael, and Marc—and his infant great-granddaughter, Emma. Larry is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Terry, whom he married on December 21, 1960. Together, they built a life filled with love and warmth, raising three wonderful children in their Fife Heights home. He leaves behind his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Patty of Sun City West, AZ; daughters Cathie Triplett and her partner Diane of Bonney Lake, WA; and Wendee Triplett Zeeb and her husband Randy of Federal Way, WA. Larry was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and was blessed with eight great-grandchildren. A graduate of Fife High School in 1960, Larry went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Highline Community College. Shortly after high school, he embarked on a life of service and adventure by joining the US Air Force, where he served from 1960 to 1964. His military career took him overseas to Peshawar, Pakistan, where he served with distinction. After his honorable discharge, Larry began a remarkable 47-year career with Boeing Aerospace. His dedication and work ethic were evident throughout his tenure. Upon retiring, Larry and Terry fulfilled a dream by moving to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, where they spent 20 wonderful and memorable years, enjoying what the islands had to offer! Embracing his new community, Larry worked as a security manager at the Sheraton, and later at the Marriott Hotels in Kona. As an adult and a child growing up he was a member of the Milton Methodist Church. After moving to Hawaii Larry became an active and cherished member of the Kona United Methodist Church. His contributions to the community were numerous, from organizing the church’s entries in the Christmas and 4th of July parades to participating in the men’s breakfast group and setting up the morning usher duties. A man of many passions, Larry cherished the great outdoors. Summers were joyfully spent with family at various picturesque lakes in the Pacific Northwest, while winters brought the excitement of his annual week-long elk hunting trips with the men in his family. Among his memorable times were smelting in the Cowlitz, crabbing on Westport’s piers, salmon fishing in Puget Sound, clam digging at Ocean Shores and Easter’s spent at the ocean with all his family! Larry also loved playing golf, especially in Hawaii, where he could enjoy the sport year-round with friends and family. While living in Hawaii, Larry discovered Cruising and from then on they spent the next years cruising the world! Visiting every continent on earth and traveling around the world for far out adventures! Larry's life was a testament to love, dedication, and community. A couple of his favorite experiences were volunteering for the annual IronMan swim, bike and run race every October and weekly with Destination Kona Coast volunteering as a cruise ship greeter welcoming all the passengers coming ashore with information, directions, brochures and maps! He touched the lives of many with his kindness and generosity. His family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, in honor of Larry's spirit of giving. Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind. May his soul rest in everlasting peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Larry Triplett welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
