LARCON McCLEAN (MAX) JEFFREY

December 11, 1937 — June 25, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larcon McClean "Max" Jeffrey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Larcon peacefully departed this life on June 25, 2026, at the age of 88, due to natural causes. He was surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and deep devotion to those he loved. Born on December 11, 1937, in the serene village of Codrington, Barbuda, Larcon was the beloved son of Irene Steele and Lenhart Jeffrey. He was the youngest of his siblings who predeceased him: brothers Thomas, Raymond, and Joseph "Bully" Jeffrey, and sisters Connie Simon Downing and Marie Downing Lefler. The Jeffrey family was deeply rooted in their community, and Larcon carried forward that tradition of community spirit throughout his life. Larcon's early education at Holy Trinity Primary School in Barbuda laid the foundation for a life of learning and exploration. His adventurous spirit led him to work as a sailor on the sport fishing boat "Barbuda Bell" at the Coco Point Lodge/Resort, where he was known for his exceptional skills and dedication. The resort, with its white sands and clear waters, was a reflection of Larcon’s tranquil and inviting nature. In 1983, Larcon and his beloved wife, Sislyn Victoria Jeffrey, whom he married on May 20, 1964, in St. John's, Antigua, made a courageous move to the United States. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a robust sense of family. For 62 beautiful years, they shared a life journey that enriched the lives of their five children: Calvin, Elloy (and wife Marisa), McClean, Connie C, and Catherine Dawn (and husband Randy C Smith), who cherished their father as the best dad ever. Larcon worked as a foreman at H & G Industries in Belleville, New Jersey, and later relocated to Illinois due to the company's expansion. His dedication and hardworking nature were evident until his retirement in 2002 at the age of 65. Larcon's career path was marked by integrity and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Larcon was a God-fearing man, known for his soft-spoken, kind, and generous spirit. He was a role model for many in Barbuda and beyond, offering guidance and wisdom to all who sought it. His grandchildren fondly remember his infamous baked dumplings, a testament to his culinary skills honed from his youth as a cook on his father's cargo boat. Larcon's legacy is carried forward by his grandchildren: Dijon, Tyrrell, Jonathan, Ellisa, Jehvon, Rashidi, Brandon, Chloe, Sydney, Chad, Legend, and Knowledge, as well as his great-grandchildren: Jaelynn, Jordan, Cameron, Jersey, Princeton, Kingston, Jayden, Jahseh, Jehmih, and Cairo. His love and guidance will forever be etched in their hearts. The Jeffrey family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from family, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all who were touched by Larcon’s life. A service to celebrate his life will be held on July 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM at The Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, 275 West Milton Avenue, Rahway, NJ. In this time of mourning, we find comfort in the memories and love shared with Larcon. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the profound impact one life can have on so many. May God bless and strengthen you all during this difficult time of bereavement.
