Lander Holeman
February 28, 1963 — June 14, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Lander Holeman, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Lander transitioned peacefully on June 14, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital, enveloped by the love and presence of his family. He was 63 years old.
Born on February 28, 1963, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Lander was the beloved son of the late Wardell and Mary Holeman. He was also predeceased by his sister, Terri Henderson, whose memory he cherished dearly.
Lander's life was one of devotion and warmth, defined by the deep connections he nurtured with his family and community. He is survived by his loving children, daughter LaTosha Holeman and son Lander Holeman Jr., who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his devoted siblings: brother Harrison Henderson Sr. and his wife Crissy Hinton-Henderson, brother Perry Henderson Sr., and sister Herleander Holeman-Butcher, who will continue to honor his legacy through their lives.
He was a doting grandfather to Rodney and Ryan Smith, Dajaun, Jayden, and Jordan Holeman, and granddaughter Shatavion Wade. His eyes would light up with joy, especially when with his great-granddaughter, Aspen Holeman. Lander's family was his world, and he never missed an opportunity to express his love for them.
His best friend and confidant, Terry Everage, whom he affectionately considered a brother, shared many of life’s adventures with Lander, providing companionship and laughter throughout the years.
Lander was an alumnus of Alton High School, where he first discovered his passion for cooking—a passion that would lead him into a fulfilling career in the restaurant industry. His culinary skills were matched only by his love for the outdoors, where he found solace and joy in the simple beauty of nature.
Those who knew Lander will remember him for his infectious laugh that could light up any room and his selfless generosity that touched the lives of many. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, a testament to his kind-hearted spirit and unwavering dedication to helping others.
A service to celebrate Lander's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his remarkable journey and the lasting impact he made on our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lander's name to a charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of generosity and love.
Though Lander has departed from this earthly realm, the love and memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly, as we carry his spirit with us always.
