Lana Joyce Bellamy
October 5, 1943 — March 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Lana Joyce Bellamy. Born on October 5, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Lana’s journey on this earth concluded on March 8, 2026, after a intermediate illness, surrounded by the love of her family.
Lana, born in Sheffield Alabama, was the cherished eldest daughter of the late John Henry and Grace Earline Garner, and sister to a beloved family, including her late brother Robert Lovelace, and sisters Johnnie Dawson and Jeanette Allen. Predeceased by her husband Gus Bellamy, a Purple Heart Veteran, with whom she shared ten precious years, Lana now joins them in eternal rest.
A proud alumna of East Technical High School in Cleveland, Lana pursued a career in nursing completing The Golden Age Nursing Program, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives for over 40 years. Her commitment to caring for others extended beyond her professional duties, as she became a beacon of support and joy within her community.
Lana was a woman of many passions, known for her infectious laugh, love of travel, cooking and a dance that could light up any room. Lana was the "Mother" to her younger siblings as she would state that they acted like they were her children. Whenever she cooked a meal, she always made certain that they ate before her. Family gatherings were her cherished moments, where her quick wit and humor became the life of the party. She held a remarkable ability to lighten the mood, often with a playful jest, and carried herself with integrity, always ready to apologize if she found herself in the wrong. She was never one to argue for the sake of being right, often quipping, "I'm just gonna sit here and keep my mouth shut," with a twinkle in her eye.
Those left to honor Lana’s memory include her siblings, John Garner, Jr.(Maudest), Ruby Evans (Bruce), and Jacqulyn Maddox, aunt Airlean Hutchins, along with her sister-in-love and best friend Arylue Hill. Her special nephew and caregiver, Anthony Garner, nieces and nephews Estelle Garner, Hastings Garner, Jacquelin Stevens, Robert Lovelace Jr, Jerome Lovelace, Wendell Lovelace, Kimberly Sopher, Eugene Sopher, Leona Sopher, Jerritta Nelson, Brandi Nelson, and a host of cousins, and extended family, will continue to celebrate the legacy of kindness and love that Lana left behind.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Hospice Reserve Care and Solon Pointe Care Center. Their dedication and kindness during Lana’s final days have been a source of comfort and strength. We also thank all who showered us with presence, prayers, and kindness during this time of mourning.
A celebration of Lana’s life will be held on March 27, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Pernel Jones & Sons Funeral Home, located at 7120 Cedar Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44103. We invite all who knew and loved Lana to join us in honoring her memory.
In this time of reflection, let us remember Lana Joyce Bellamy not only for the laughter and joy she brought into our lives but for the love and warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy will continue to inspire and remind us of the beauty of a life lived with grace, humor, and compassion.
