Lamont E. Waters, born on May 30, 1972, in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, surrounded by the compassionate care of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He was a beloved son, brother, cousin, and friend, who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Lamont was the cherished son of Vernetta Waters and the late Greg Fraizer. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted mother, Vernetta, and his dear sisters. His aunts, Stephanie Williams (née Jesse) and Lesley Dearry (née Eddie), along with his cousins Kia Williams, Shawna Hardy, Michelle Hardy, and special mention Angie King, will forever hold him close in their hearts.
A proud alumnus of Academy Park High School's class of 1992, Lamont continued his studies at Penn State University, graduating in 1996. His commitment to service was evident in his over 20-year career as a correctional officer with the New York prison system, where he dedicated his time and talents at Rikers Island. His colleagues remember him as a steady presence, respected for his professionalism and integrity.
Lamont embraced life with an eagerness to explore the world around him. He loved traveling, immersing himself in music, and the freedom he found riding his motorcycle. His passion for sports was unmatched, as he was a diehard fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Yankees. Despite his quiet and laid-back nature, Lamont was always ready for a good party or an exciting trip, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
A service to honor Lamont's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sharon Hill Baptist Church, located at 1234 Sharon Ave. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of his life and the joy he brought to others.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lamont's memory to a charity of your choice. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes during this time of deep sorrow. May God continue to bless you all.
