LaMont Dunlap

LaMont Dunlap, born on December 1, 1983, in Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away suddenly at his home on August 3, 2026, following a recent accident. Although his time with us was unexpectedly shortened, his impact on the lives of those around him remains profound and enduring. LaMont was the beloved son of Fred and Mary Dunlap, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband to Catherine Dunlap, whom he married on December 2, 2023. Their love, though brief in years, was deep and unwavering, a bond that will be cherished in memory forever. He was a dedicated father to his children: Delonate Maurice Dunlap of Brooklyn, New York; LaShaun Haigler and her husband Rick of Charlotte, North Carolina; Shaquania Williams of Macon, Georgia; Taurous Gooch of Charlotte, North Carolina; Robert Dunlap and his wife Alisha of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Brianna Dunlap of Charlotte, North Carolina; Atura Dunlap of Columbus, Ohio; and Jatira Webster and her husband Demius of Tokyo, Japan. LaMont was also a cherished grandfather to his eight grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. LaMont's life was a testament to the values of kindness and community. He attended Mecklenburg County schools in Charlotte, North Carolina, and earned his GED with dedication and perseverance. His commitment to faith was evident as he attended Berean Seventh Day Adventist in his youth, and later Ethnan Temple Seventh Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His presence was a beacon of warmth and friendliness. LaMont was known for his cheerful greetings and endearing smile. His neighbors could always count on him for a friendly hello and a hand in maintaining their yards. He took pride in keeping his neighborhood clean and was always ready to lend a helping hand. LaMont had a passion for reading the Word of God and enjoyed spending time outdoors, engaging in yard work and other community activities. He was known for his keen sense of style, always dressing up for church, reflecting his respect and love for his faith and community. He is survived by a loving extended family, including his sister-in-law Denise Small of Kingston, North Carolina, his special spiritual parents Sue and William Dunn of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly. A service to honor and celebrate LaMont's life will be held on September 12, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the Ethnan Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church, located at 1205 Wood Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15221. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via livestream. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting LaMont's generous spirit and his commitment to helping others. LaMont Dunlap's legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
