Lamar V. Parrett
November 14, 1956 — February 6, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lamar V. Parrett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on February 6, 2026, at his home after courageously battling a terminal illness. He was surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, who will forever cherish his memory.
Born on November 14, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lamar was the cherished son of Lee and Georgia Parrett. He was predeceased by his loving parents, who instilled in him the values of dedication and kindness that he carried throughout his life.
Lamar attended Parkman Middle School and he later graduated from Rufus King High School. His patriotic spirit led him to proudly serve in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring with the esteemed rank of Technical Sergeant. During his distinguished military career, he showcased his expertise in aircraft maintenance as a turboprop mechanic for the C-130 and later transitioned into supply management.
After retiring from the Air Force, Lamar continued his aviation career with StandardAero and later worked as a long-haul truck driver.
Outside of his professional life, Lamar found joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid cyclist and fitness enthusiast, who cherished his time working out and staying active. His love for cooking and gardening brought a sense of peace and joy to his life, as did spending quality time with his family. Lamar's unique sense of humor and down-to-earth nature made him a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew him.
Lamar is survived by his devoted wife, Angela Parrett. His legacy lives on through his children, Cristina Parrett, Raquel Parrett, Marichell Romero, and Lamar Parrett, who will carry forward his values and spirit. He was also a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
A service to celebrate Lamar's life will be held on February 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Dodd Field Chapel, located at 5584 Dodd Blvd, Fort Sam Houston. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Lamar are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man whose life was filled with love, laughter, and service.
The Parrett family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible staff of Yellow Rose Hospice Care and to everyone who has sent prayers, phone calls, messages, and much love during this difficult time. The outpouring of support has been a source of comfort and strength, and they are eternally grateful for the kindness shown by so many.
In honoring Lamar's memory, let us remember his laughter, his love for life, and his unwavering dedication to those he held dear. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
