Lamar "Marty" Egler, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with neuroendocrine cancer. Born on March 13, 1979, in Cleveland, Ohio, Lamar blessed the lives of all who knew him with his creativity, humor, and infectious smile. Educated in the Cleveland public school system, Lamar later obtained his GED, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and growth. For over 30 years, he thrived as an entrepreneur, sharing his talents and knowledge with all who sought his guidance. His expertise as a truck driver and mechanic was renowned, and he was affectionately referred to as a "denial mechanic," a testament to the breadth of his skills and his humble nature. Lamar's life was a testament to service and community. Known for his generosity and kindness, he was always ready to lend a hand, teach a new skill, or share a laugh. His dedication to helping others, whether family, friends, or strangers, left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his parents Lillian Egler and Larry Cowlin; his siblings, Latakia Glasgow (Larry), Larry Egler (Shonna), and Timothy Egler; his children, Lamar Egler Jr, Shamyra Egler, and Anthony Duncan, Martrice; and his cherished grandchild, Israel Egler. Lamar also leaves behind his partner, Serena, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who adored him. Lamar was predeceased by his grandparents, Norma Jean Egler, Charles Cowlin, and Christine Cowlin, and several aunts and uncles who preceded him in death. Their memories are a comforting reminder of the strong family bonds that Lamar cherished and nurtured.
