In Loving Memory

Lamar “stack” redding
April 24, 1981 — July 2, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Lamar Redding, who left this world on July 2, 2026, at the age of 45. Born on April 24, 1981, in Chicago, Lamar was a beacon of warmth and light in the lives of all who knew him.
Lamar was the cherished son of John and Courtney Redding, who instilled in him a strong sense of family and community. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother William, sister Shayla, daughter Marcieka, and son Lamar Jr., with whom he now rests in eternal peace.
A proud graduate of Illinois Tech in 2010, Lamar pursued his passion for automotive engineering. His career as a mechanic at Frankfurt Chevy was marked by his dedication and expertise, which he carried with him when he relocated to Gary, Indiana. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and talented professional who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lamar's heart was truly with his family. He built a life filled with love and laughter, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. His passion for basketball was matched only by his love for playing video games and his impressive collection of cars. Lamar found joy in the simple pleasures of life and shared that joy with everyone around him.
Lamar's life, though tragically cut short by gun violence, was filled with love, joy, and the pursuit of passions that brought him happiness. His legacy will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, father, and friend.
A celebration of Lamar's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Morning Star Baptist Church, located at 3993 King Dr, Chicago, Illinois. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a wonderful man who touched so many lives.
In honor of Lamar's memory, contributions may be made to charitable organizations dedicated to preventing gun violence.
Lamar will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace.
