In Loving Memory of Lamar Harrell It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lamar Harrell, who passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on April 23, 1970, in Detroit, Michigan, Lamar was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend to many. Lamar was a man of exceptional character, known for his quick wit, warm smile, and an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. He possessed a charismatic presence and intelligence that made him a joy to be around and a cherished member of his community. He was a proud graduate of Jared Finney High School in Detroit, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with diverse interests and accomplishments. Lamar was a true Renaissance man; he was a fitness coach, a computer wizard, and an avid dog lover who took great pride in breeding dogs. His love of sports was well known, as he enjoyed bowling, fishing, tennis, and golf. Music was a significant part of his life, with a special fondness for artists like Maxwell and Biggie, and he was always ready to sing along to his favorite song, "Let's Do It Again." Lamar shared a beautiful life with his devoted wife, Felicia, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage. Together, they raised six amazing children: Herman, Tyvon, Little Lamar, Lauren, and Heaven, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues in his ten cherished grandchildren: D'Andre, Troy, Lorenzo, Tyrone, Arielle, Arctica, Tailah, Tyvon, Kaia, and Gracie, whose lives he enriched with love and laughter. Lamar is lovingly remembered by his mother, Theresa, and his surviving family members. He is predeceased by his fathers, Robert Harrell and James, as well as his grandson, Troy Ward. A service to honor Lamar's remarkable life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Swansons Funeral Home, located at 806 E Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48207. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a man who brought so much joy to those around him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Lamar's generous spirit and care for others. The family of Lamar Harrell extends their heartfelt gratitude for every act of kindness shown during this difficult time. Your prayers and expressions of love have brought comfort and strength to Lamar's family, and a more personal acknowledgment will be expressed at a later time. Lamar will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on forever in our hearts.
