LaFreda Hill

LaFreda, born on December 24, 1971, in Wichita Falls, Texas, left this world on September 8, 2026, leaving behind an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to strength, love, and an unwavering spirit that inspired those around her. LaFreda was predeceased by her beloved parents, E.H. Fountain and Betty Erskine Fountain, as well as her brothers Dewayne Fountain, Johnny Milligan, and Jimmy Milligan, and sister Debra Milligan Lewis. She also fondly remembered her brothers-in-law Larry Fugett and Larry Lewis, affectionately known as "the Legend." Surviving LaFreda are her daughters, Brittany Fugett (Greg), and Bethany Chavez. Her grandchildren, Evelio Zaragoza, Gabriel Cabrera, Tommy Fugett, Morgan Harrel-Steward, Adrian Fugett, Yeleyna Chavez, and Maliyah Chavez, were the center of her world, and she loved them more than anything. She also leaves behind her sister Renee Fugett and her husband Junior, two cherished nieces Amy and Heather, and her favorite nephew Trey-Trey Fugett. Her life was enriched by the joy of raising her daughters and three of her grandsons, Gabriel,Tommy and Adrian who she embraced not only as grandsons but as sons. These boys were her life force. An avid fishing enthusiast, LaFreda found solace in the simple beauty of nature. She often said that fishing was where one could find peace and get your mind right. Her love for casting a line into a river, lake, or pond was rivaled only by her love for her family. LaFreda was a woman of fierce determination and boundless courage. She was known for her candid honesty, never shying away from telling it like it was. Her life was filled with battles that would have overwhelmed most, but she faced each challenge with resilience and a refusal to give up. Her memory will linger in the hearts of those who loved her, as she was truly unforgettable. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. In her family's words, "She loved with her whole heart, and though she could be fierce when crossed, her love was profound and enduring." The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Duncan Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and support during LaFreda's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in LaFreda's memory to a charity of your choice.
