Born on August 25, 1970, in Tacoma, Washington, Kyle was the beloved son of the late Ernest and Arlene Phillips. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be treasured by all who knew him. Kyle grew up in Yelm, Washington, where he graduated from Yelm High School in 1988. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington State University in 1994. His passion for engineering was evident in his meticulous work, and he spent 16 years as a dedicated Electrical Engineer before following his dream of opening The White Horse, a bar that became a local favorite. In 1988, Kyle served in the US Navy, a brief but proud chapter of his life that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and service. This commitment to community carried on throughout his life as he volunteered his time with the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League, and Deschutes Grange. On August 7, 1992, Kyle married his college sweetheart, Kerrie Payton, in Sequim. Their 33-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children—Curtis, Austin, and Sarah—and found immense joy in their growing family, which included two cherished grandchildren, Brison and Greyson, with a little granddaughter, Charlotte, on the way. Kyle's warmth and humor were his trademarks. Known for his quick wit and welcoming smile, he had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel valued and appreciated. Whether it was sharing a joke or lending a helping hand, his kindness was boundless, and his generosity touched countless lives. In his leisure time, Kyle found solace in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and cherished the quiet moments spent with a cigar and a good whiskey. A true enthusiast of classic Americana, Kyle was a fan of Clint Eastwood and Ronald Reagan, and he had an unwavering affection for his 1971 Chevy Blazer. Riding his Harley was one of his greatest pleasures, and he embraced every opportunity to feel the wind on his face. Kyle is survived by his beloved wife Kerrie, his children Curtis, Austin, and Sarah, his grandchildren Brison, Greyson, and the soon-to-arrive Charlotte, and his brother Jeff. Though he has left this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. In honor of Kyle's memory, the family requests that donations be made to organizations supporting veterans or children's sports programs—causes that were close to his heart.
