It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kwame Lynn Wimberly, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on July 4, 2026. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 27, 1971, Kwame brought joy and laughter to everyone she met. She was a woman of many talents and an unwavering spirit, who embraced life with humor and warmth.
Kwame was the cherished daughter of the late Bertha Lee Wimberly and James Braxton. She was also predeceased by her beloved brother, Timothy Wimberly. She is survived by her adoring sons, Tajh Johnson and Carlos Johnson, who were the pride of her life. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Carlos Jr., Anniyah, Kingston, Nylah, Antonio, Beautiful, and Dalani, who brought immense joy to her days.
A proud graduate of East High School, Kwame pursued a career dedicated to service and care. She worked from home with several medical companies, where she assisted clients and patients with their appointments, always ensuring they felt valued and heard. Her deep love for animals led her to work in various animal clinics, where her compassion and kindness shone brightly. Recently ordained, Kwame was excited to embark on a new journey to officiate weddings, spreading love and happiness even further.
Kwame's life was filled with simple joys and cherished moments. She enjoyed crocheting and often found peace in the rhythmic motions of creating something beautiful. Playing games on her phone was a favorite pastime, as was spending precious time with her grandchildren, whose laughter and energy she adored. A lover of shopping and exploring different restaurants, she found delight in the little adventures of everyday life.
Those who knew Kwame will fondly remember her for her infectious humor and the way she could light up a room with her smile. She had a knack for saying the craziest things that would leave those around her in stitches, a true joy and light to be around.
Kwame is survived by her loving sisters, Pamela Wimberly and Phyllis Wimberly, and her brother, Ronnie Wimberly, along with his partner Celestine Smith. Her family also includes several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
