February 25, 1970 — March 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Kurt Joseph Hughes, who was tragically taken from us far too soon on March 25, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on February 25, 1970, in the warm embrace of Texas, Kurt's journey through life was as vibrant and adventurous as the land he called home. Kurt was the beloved son of the late Patricia and Dave Hughes, whose nurturing love and guidance shaped him into the remarkable man he became. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Hughes, and is now reunited with them in peace. Surviving him are his cherished children who were the pride and joy in his life, Kyle, Jonathon, and Amanda (Hughes) Locker and Son in Law Eric Locker. He was unknowingly a soon-to-be grandfather, but gets to meet his grandchild before anyone else. His brothers, Richard, Mark, and Scott Hughes, along with an extensive extended family including Cherri, Chad, Cody, Derek, Journie, Colby, Macon, and Daryl Hughes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends, will continue to hold his memory dear. Kurt was a proud graduate of L.D. Bell High School, where he forged friendships that lasted throughout his life. His career as a skilled painter and home builder was marked by dedication and craftsmanship, beginning with his early years working alongside his father in the Hughes Family Business. His hands crafted homes, but his heart built a legacy of kindness and generosity. A spirited soul, Kurt was an avid concert-goer and music lover, finding joy in the rhythms of life. He was drawn to the thrill of haunted houses and the exhilaration of Six Flags trips, always seeking out fun and adventure. His love for the outdoors led him to the tranquility of fishing, where he found peace amidst nature's beauty. Kurt's laughter was a melody that resonated with all who knew him. His calm spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His presence was a testament to the strength of character and kindness of spirit. In celebration of Kurt's life, a service will be held on April 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Haltom City Church of The Nazarene, located at 5009 Stanley Keller Rd. We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his life and legacy. As his family lovingly reminds us, "His hands were strong, his heart was kind, and his spirit is free." Though Kurt's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will forever soar, inspiring us to live with the same joy and generosity that he embodied. Rest in peace, dear Kurt. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, now and always.
