It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we celebrate the life of Kordero Rashad Brackin, who passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at the age of 39, surrounded by his beloved family in the comfort of his home. Born on August 19, 1986, in Dothan, Alabama, Kordero's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Kordero was the cherished son of Kenneth Brackin and the late Theresa Greenfield Brackin, whose legacy of compassion and community service inspired him throughout his life. Kordero was predeceased by his mother, his paternal grandfather Hubert Brackin, and his maternal grandmother Esther Mae Greenfield, all of whom undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into eternal peace.
Surviving Kordero is his devoted wife of over 20 years, Micaela Monique Newby Brackin, who stood faithfully by his side in every endeavor and every challenge they faced together. Their enduring love was the foundation of a beautiful family, including their treasured children: daughter Jameshia (Mimi) Drayton, and sons Namye Korlita Kamear, Korjah Messiah Elias, Korvega Asareel Mekhi, and Korleon Famaylin Nasir. Kordero also leaves behind his cherished grandson, Bentlei Samir Reynolds, who brought immense joy to his heart.
Kordero is survived by his father, Kenneth Brackin, and his paternal grandmother, Reba Brackin, as well as his siblings: sisters Dennistris Callins and Vietiya Barr, and brothers WayneDarrius Barr and Keanu Brackin. His extended family includes nieces Heaven Whitlow and Halo Wright, and a very special brother-cousin-friend, Ali Torres. A special family member, Princess Ariel Aasiya Adla, also holds Kordero's memory close in Seattle, Washington.
A graduate of the Dothan City School System, Kordero pursued a career as a professional commercial licensed driver, a role that allowed him to provide for his family with pride and diligence. His commitment to community was evident through his active involvement in DARE2CARE INC., an organization founded by his mother. Kordero's dedication to empowering at-risk youth was a reflection of his mother's legacy and his own compassionate spirit.
Kordero was a man of principle and integrity, known for his quick, warm smile and humble heart. He was a loving husband and father, who found immense joy in spending time with his family. His humor and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met, making them feel welcome and valued.
A service to honor Kordero's life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, located at 4850 County Road 73, Newville, Alabama. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available at www.scottschapelhillmortuary.com.
