It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kordero Rashad Brackin, a cherished husband, devoted father, beloved son, and treasured friend. Kordero departed this life peacefully on May 1, 2026, in the comfort of his home in Dothan, Alabama, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on August 19, 1986, in Dothan, Alabama, Kordero graced the world with his presence for 39 years before succumbing to his courageous battle with cancer.
Kordero was the beloved son of Kenneth Brackin and the late Theresa Greenfield Brackin Strachan. His legacy of love and strength is carried on by his devoted wife, Micaela Monique Newby Brackin of Newville, Alabama, with whom he shared a beautiful life and raised five wonderful children. He leaves behind his daughter, Jameshia "Mimi" Drayton, 23, and four sons, Namye Korlita Kamear Brackin, 19, Korjah Messiah Elias Brackin, 16, Korvega Asareel Mekhi Brackin, 14, and Korleon Famaylin Nasir Brackin, 12, all of Dothan, Alabama. Kordero was also a doting grandfather to Bentlei Samir Reynolds, 2.
His father, Kenneth Brackin, his paternal grandmother, Reba Brackin of Newville, Alabama, and siblings, Dennistris Callins (Jeff) of Huntsville, Alabama, Vietiya Barr of Birmingham, Alabama, Wayne Darrius Barr of Birmingham, Alabama, and Keanu Brackin (Megan) of Birmingham, Alabama, hold his memory close. Kordero will also be remembered fondly by his nieces, Heaven Whitlow and Halo Wright, both of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as his special family member, Princess Ariel Aasiya Adla of Seattle, Washington, and his dear brother, cousin, and friend, Ali Torres of Dothan, Alabama.
Kordero was predeceased by his beloved mother, Theresa Greenfield Strachan, his paternal grandfather, Hubert Brackin, and his maternal grandmother, Esther Mae Greenfield.
A proud alumnus of the Dothan City School System, Kordero was a professional commercial licensed driver in Alabama. His dedication extended beyond his professional life as he wholeheartedly served as an active and faithful member of DARE2CARE INC., a non-profit organization founded by his late mother. The organization’s mission to uplift at-risk youth resonated deeply with Kordero, and he contributed tirelessly to its cause.
Kordero's life was a testament to integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to his family. Known for his infectious smile and quick wit, he possessed the rare ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Whether leading his family with pride or sharing a laugh, Kordero embodied love and strength.
A service in celebration of Kordero's life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, located at 4850 County Road 73, Newville, Alabama 36353. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available at www.scottschapelhillmortuary.com.
