January 23, 1960 — October 16, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Kimberly Vinson, who left this world peacefully on October 16, 2026. Born on January 23, 1960, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Kimberly was the beloved daughter of the late Willie and Endia Vinson. Though she is now reunited with her parents, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Kimberly was a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her devoted son, Robert C. Vinson, Sr., her loving daughter, Sadeea L. Kelley, and her treasured grandsons, Robert Vinson, Jr. and Karter Banks Kelley. Her siblings, Valerie Wilson, Susan Alexander, Tammie Vinson, Gwendolyn Sims, and Willie Vinson, Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Educated at Holy Name Cathedral High School, Kimberly took a gap year to live in Flint, Michigan, where she gained valuable experience in retail. Her journey led her back to Chicago, where she pursued her passion for beauty at Selan's System of Beauty Culture. Her dedication and talent flourished at His N' Hers Beauty and Barber Salon, where she honed her skills before embarking on her entrepreneurial venture. Often featuring her hair designs and models in nationally recognized beauty and cosmetology trade conventions. Alongside her partner, Larry Wilson, Kimberly co-founded Kim and Larry's, a salon, which hosted numerous hair shows; that has stood the test of time and continues to thrive under the leadership of their daughter, Sadeea.
Kimberly's commitment to her community was evident in her active membership with the North Lawndale Chamber of Commerce, and her spiritual life was deeply enriched at Greater Open Door Baptist Church under the guidance of Pastor Richard Nelson. She was known for her astute business acumen, training young stylists, and her remarkable ability to balance the books with precision.
Outside of her professional life, Kimberly's world revolved around her family. She delighted in spending time with them, particularly in helping her grandsons with their homework. Monthly culinary adventures with her sisters were a cherished tradition, and her love for reading was reflected in her impressive collection of novels.
Those who knew Kimberly will remember her for her radiant smile, sage advice, and her steadfast faith in God. Her warmth and wisdom touched the lives of all who crossed her path.
