It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly O'Connell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home on October 11, 2026. Born on June 22, 1962, in the quaint town of Niles, Ohio, Kimberly was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. Kimberly was the cherished daughter of Hal and Lorene Church, who preceded her in death, along with her devoted husband, Christopher O'Connell. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Stephanie Vanderburg, son-in-law Daniel Vanderburg, and her treasured grandson, Zachary Vanderburg. A proud graduate of Niles McKinley High School, class of 1985, Kimberly dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and spirits of young children. Her career at Warren Christian School spanned over two decades, from 1995 to 2018. She began as an aide in the preschool rooms, and through her dedication and passion, she became a beloved teacher, preparing countless children for the journey into kindergarten. Faith was a cornerstone of Kimberly's life. She was an active member of Niles Christian Assembly, where she forged lifelong friendships and shared her vibrant spirit with her community. Known for her spicy attitude, Kimberly had a way of telling it like it was while loving with all her heart. Her honesty and warmth endeared her to many, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Kimberly found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time with her family and friends or cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Steelers and the Cavaliers. Her laughter and enthusiasm were infectious, and her presence will be dearly missed. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. Family and friends who wish to honor Kimberly's memory are invited to make donations to a charity of their choice, continuing her legacy of love and kindness. As we say goodbye to Kimberly, we hold her in our hearts and remember a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
