It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Michelle Gist, a beloved sister, cousin, and friend, who left this world suddenly on April 26, 2026, after a brief illness. Kimberly was born on July 20, 1971, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and she graced this world with her kindness, warmth, and an indomitable spirit for 54 beautiful years. Kimberly was the cherished daughter of the late Leroy and Lillian Gist, who now welcome her into their eternal embrace. She was predeceased by her loving grandparents, Oscar Gist Sr., Francis T. Gist, John H. Brown, and Anne Long Brown, as well as her dear aunts, Mary Wilkins and Beluah Nelson, and uncles, Oscar Gist Jr., Frank Brown, John Brown Jr., and James Brown. She is survived by her devoted siblings, Rhonda Gist and Pamela (Lamont) Smith of Spartanburg, SC, and her brother Kevin Gist. Kimberly shared a special bond with her cousin, Thomas "Shorty" Gentry, whose friendship and support were constants in her life. She is also remembered fondly by her aunts, Elizabeth (James) Stewart, Patty (Thomas) Gentry of Spartanburg, SC, and Carrie (Thuman) Clemmons of Lexington, North Carolina, and her uncle, Ervin Nelson of Spartanburg, SC. Kimberly’s legacy includes a vast host of friends and family who will forever cherish the memories they shared. Kimberly was a proud graduate of the Spartanburg County School System. Her love for singing led her to be a former member of the Foster Chapel Baptist Church of Jonesville, South Carolina, where she delighted in being part of the chorus. Her faith journey continued at the Worship Center of Roebuck, South Carolina, where she found a spiritual home and community. Those who knew Kimberly will remember her for her warm smile and contagious laugh—attributes that brought joy and comfort to everyone around her. Her love for family and friends was unwavering, and she took great pleasure in simple joys like shopping, traveling, and singing. Kimberly lived her life with a generosity of spirit that touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. A celebration of Kimberly’s life will be held on April 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Worship Center, located at 945 Caanan Road, Roebuck, South Carolina. The service will also be available via livestream through the Worship Center’s link, allowing those who cannot attend in person to join in honoring Kimberly's remarkable life. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of JW Woodward, the Worship Center, and Emma Brown for their unwavering support and assistance during this difficult time. Kimberly Michelle Gist will forever remain in our hearts, her spirit woven into the fabric of our lives. Though she is no longer with us, her love and laughter will echo in our memories, guiding us as we continue on without her. Rest in peace, dear Kimberly; you are deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
