It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Kimberly Allison Cornett, who left us peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 45. Kim was at home, enveloped in love and comfort, with her cherished kitties by her side.
Born on December 28, 1980, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Kim was a beloved daughter to John Cornett and Karen Lenken Daley. Her journey through life was marked by an extraordinary blend of warmth, passion, and dedication to her family, friends, and her chosen vocation. Preceded in death by her grandparents Oran Cornett, Margaret Makin Gibello, and Philip Lenken, Kim carried forward their legacy of love and kindness.
Kimberly shared a remarkable life with her devoted husband, Andrew De La Rosa, who she married on June 12, 2010. Their sixteen-year union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Alongside her husband, she is survived by her father John Cornett, mother Karen Lenken Daley, sister Andrea Cornett and her husband Daniel Davis, and her beloved nephew Sebastian Plumb and his partner Samuel Driscoll. Her grandmother, Margaret Wendel Lenken, and her aunts Kathy Jones (Chris), Karolyn Abbott (Curtis), and Tina Rader (Karl) also continue to celebrate her life and memory, as do numerous younger cousins who cherished her as a role model and confidante.
Kimberly’s academic journey began at Mary Carroll High School, where she graduated in 1999. Her passion for understanding and helping others led her to earn an Associate of Arts in Psychology from Del Mar College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Her professional life was dedicated to supporting those in need as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor, offering her expertise at Bayview Behavioral Health Hospital since 2021, and at Charlie Health from 2022. Additionally, she maintained a thriving private practice, where her clients cherished her empathetic and insightful guidance.
Kimberly was a woman of many interests and talents. An avid reader and film buff, she found joy in the arts and shared this passion with those around her. Her love for animals, especially her cats, was only matched by her love for family gatherings, barbecues, live music, and the joy of singing karaoke. Known for her generous spirit, she approached life with an impeccable work ethic and an infectious enthusiasm for Halloween parties and Christmas cheer.
Kim's nurturing spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Maxwell P. Dunne for allowing them to honor Kim in a manner befitting her beautiful spirit.
In celebrating Kimberly’s life, we remember her as a beacon of love and kindness, a woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
