Kimberly L. Bell

Kimberly L. Bell, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend, passed away on September 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with heart and kidney failure. She was born on August 28, 1962, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Patricia (née Tanner) and William Bell. Kimberly's life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and a profound love for her community and family. Kimberly's educational journey began in the Detroit Public Schools system, where she graduated from Cass Technical High School in June 1979. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for justice led her to the University of Michigan, where she earned her undergraduate degree, followed by a Master's degree in International Law. Kimberly continued her academic pursuits at the University of Chicago, obtaining her Juris Doctorate. Throughout her career, Kimberly was a dedicated and compassionate attorney in the City of Detroit, primarily focusing on family law. Her advocacy for children and families was not just a career but a calling, and she tirelessly worked to make a difference in their lives. Kimberly's interests were as varied as they were numerous, encompassing reading, writing, political discussions, fishing, and a deep appreciation for nature. Her love for beauty was evident in her passion for fashion and landscape design, earning her the "yard of the month" title within her neighborhood on numerous occasions. She generously shared her talents, often providing landscape services to others, always with a smile and the kind of enthusiasm that made her presence a joy to all who knew her. Her personality was vibrant and engaging; Kimberly loved a good debate and was known for being "to-the-point." She found happiness in the entire dining experience, especially when it involved good food shared with loved ones. Kimberly is survived by her devoted brother Duane (Tse Lane) Bell, cherished nephews and niece: Duane Bell II, Nya (Eric), and Kwame; her treasured great-nephews and nieces, godmother Beverli Varner Wynn, godchild Karlin Smith, a host of loving cousins, and her dearest friends: Debbie, Gladys, Kathy, and Thea. She was predeceased by her parents, Patricia and William. The family will hold a service to celebrate Kimberly's life on September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, located at 24501 Five Mile Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in her memory. The family of Kimberly L.
