It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Khalil Smith, a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Khalil departed this world far too soon on April 29, 2026, at the age of 31, following a tragic car accident and subsequent unjust circumstances. His passing is a heart-wrenching loss for his loved ones and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Khalil had a deep love for martial arts, a discipline that complemented his energetic and positive nature. He was known for his ability to light up any room with his smile and infectious laughter, spreading joy to everyone around him. Khalil was a collector of baseball cards and figurines, hobbies that spoke to his appreciation for detail, history, and nostalgia.
Khalil was blessed with a loving family that included his surviving grandparents, Susan Gibbs and Anne Belle Smoot, and 3 Aunts, Shamicka Hill, Brenda Gunder, and Hope Robinson. 4 uncles, Rondie Gibbs Jr, Donnell Gibbs, Charlie Joyner and Doug Smith, and a host of cousins. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable life Khalil led, sharing stories and memories that highlight the joy he brought to this world.
As we remember Khalil, we are guided by a special prayer from his mother, Felicia, that embodies the deep faith and love she holds for her son:
Mom's Prayer To Khalil
Bismillāh ir‑Raḥmān ir‑Raḥīm.
O Allah, Most Merciful, Most Near,
I return my son Khalil to You with love and trust.
You said:
“Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.”
Surely we belong to You, and surely to You we return.
O Allah, place light in his resting place,
peace in his soul,
and mercy around him on every side.
Make him among those You called:
“O tranquil soul… return to your Lord, pleased and pleasing.”
Forgive him, raise him, protect him,
and let my prayers reach him like light.
Ameen.
