Khadija Abdulqaad

August 9, 1938 — June 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Khadija Abdulqaad Wako on June 23, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 9, 1938, in the vibrant town of Adaama, Ethiopia, Khadija graced the world with her warmth, compassion, and indomitable spirit. Her journey on this earth concluded after a courageous battle with cancer, returning to Allah as she lived her life—with grace and dignity. Khadija was the cherished daughter of Aisha and Amir Abdulqaad, who predeceased her, along with her sister, Mohammed Abdulqaad. She was the beloved wife of Kebir Hussein Wako, forming a union that was the foundation of a loving family. Together, they nurtured and raised two daughters, Maryam and Foziya Wako, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. A devoted mother, Khadija's nurturing spirit extended to her ten grandchildren, each of whom experienced her unconditional love and wisdom. Her legacy will continue to be a guiding light in their lives, though she did not yet welcome any great-grandchildren. Khadija's life was a testament to her deep faith and commitment to her community. She was an avid member of the local Masjid, where she found solace and strength, and where she gave generously of her time and spirit. Her involvement in the Masjid was not merely a membership; it was an embodiment of her values and a reflection of her dedication to her faith and community. Her kindness, humility, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of all who knew her. Khadija's presence was a source of comfort and her home a gathering place for family and friends, where laughter and love filled the air. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of service, family, and faith, woven with threads of compassion and resilience. A service to honor Khadija's life and legacy will be held on June 24, 2026, at the Tawfiq Islamic Center, located at 2400 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404. We invite all who knew and loved Khadija to join us in celebrating her remarkable life and to offer prayers for her eternal peace. In this time of loss, we find solace in the memories she has left behind and in the knowledge that her spirit remains with us, guiding and inspiring us as we continue our own journeys. We ask for your prayers for Khadija and her family, as we navigate this time of mourning with the same grace and faith that she exemplified throughout her life. May Allah grant her Jannah and may her soul rest in eternal peace.
