Kevin Mitchell Van Den Berg
May 22, 1962 — March 28, 2026
Lakeview, Oregon – It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Kevin "Bubcharming town of Lakeview, Oregon, Kevin was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Rhea Van Den Berg.
Kevin was a cherished father, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind a family who will forever hold him in their hearts, including his devoted son, Levi Van Den Berg of Sublimity, Oregon; his loving sisters, Vickie Childress (Harvey) of Lakeview, Oregon, and Pam Cody (Lee) of Hood River, Oregon. Kevin was a proud uncle to his nephew Garrett Childress (Carly) and nieces Jessica Smit (Charlie), Kylie Draper (Shawn), Katlin Cody, and Makenzie Cody. Though his journey on this earth has ended, his spirit will remain with them always.
Kevin was predeceased by his father Dan Van Den Berg, his mother Rhea (Garrett) Van Den Berg, and his grandparents, Ed and Mildred Garrett, whose memories he cherished deeply and spoke of often with fond recollection.
A proud alumnus of Lakeview High School, Class of 1980, Kevin was known for his relentless dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. He owned and operated Dutchman Painting, a business he nurtured with passion and precision, leaving behind a legacy of quality and trust throughout the community.
Beyond his professional life, Kevin was an ardent outdoorsman. His love for nature was evident in his pursuits of hunting, fishing, and the simple joys of riding his 4-wheeler and snowmobile through the beautiful Oregon landscapes. Kevin also possessed a unique talent for crafting leather belts, an art he enjoyed and shared with family and friends.
Kevin's kind heart and generous nature were known to all who had the pleasure of his company. In his younger days, he delighted in taking his son, nieces, and nephew on adventures, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His gentle spirit and warm smile left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who supported Kevin, affectionately known as "Bub," in recent years. Special thanks are due to Lesa Cahill, Nick Cardoza, and Barb and Hank Albertson for their unwavering care and friendship.
In Kevin's honor, the family asks that donations be made to the Ed Garrett Memorial Museum, a cause close to his heart.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, and his remarkable life remembered. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the joy, love, and laughter he brought into our lives.
Kevin Mitchell Van Den Berg will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
