August 2, 1958 — June 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Clawson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on June 10, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on August 2, 1958, in Hampton, Iowa, Kevin was a beacon of kindness and strength in the lives of all who knew him. His passing, after a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and community. Kevin was the cherished son of Newt and Dorothy Clawson, who preceded him in death, alongside his nephew James Cotton, father-in-law John R. Schipper, and grandparents Mike and Wilma Pies, and George and Mary Clawson. His memory will be lovingly carried forward by his devoted wife of 47 years, Jeanette, their three daughters, Tabatha, Taneisha, and Teresa, and his adored granddaughters, Brynlee and Sadie. Kevin also leaves behind his sisters, Barb (Del) Harken, Cyndi (Paul) Horn, and Marlene (Royce) Paterni, as well as a niece and several nephews who will dearly miss their Uncle Kevin. Kevin and Jeanette’s journey began with their marriage on December 16, 1978, a union marked by deep love and unwavering support. Together, they built a family grounded in compassion and warmth, values that Kevin exemplified throughout his life. A proud alumnus of Ackley-Geneva High School, class of 1976, Kevin dedicated his career to working as a semi-driver. Ten years ago, he retired following an ocular inclusion caused by ET Thrombosis, a bone marrow cancer. Despite the challenges he faced, Kevin’s spirit remained unyielding, and he continued to inspire those around him with his resilience and generosity. Kevin was affectionately known as a gentle giant, a testament to his towering presence and even greater heart. He possessed a unique ability to uplift others, never uttering an unkind word and always ready to lend a helping hand. His quiet strength and innate kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Kevin’s life will be held on June 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Sietsema Funeral Home, located at 501 10th Avenue, Ackley, Iowa. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember a life well-lived and to share in the love and memories that Kevin leaves behind. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Mayo Hospital for their compassion and exceptional care during Kevin’s final weeks. Their dedication and kindness brought comfort to Kevin and his loved ones during a challenging time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Kevin’s honor to support leukemia research, a cause close to Kevin’s heart. Kevin Clawson’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. While he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with the gentle wisdom he so effortlessly imparted.
