Keshan Kwashie Cooper

Keshan was born on November 28, 1976 in Paterson, NJ to Earline Cooper Sithole. Keshan is survived by his siblings Keita Cooper Haywood (James), Shamel Sithole, & Andre Greer. He leaves behind his nieces and nephews LyQuan, TeQuan, Robert, Autumn, Adriel, Xavier, Dakota, and Harlee. He also leaves behind a special aunt (Christine Cooper Pinkney) and cousins (Curtis, Teresa, Hugh, and Chris). Keshan has a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. When we think of Keshan aka Uncle Key, we remember not only what he did, but the kind of man he was. His life was defined by love, compassion, faith, and a quiet commitment to serving others. He never needed recognition or applause. Helping others was simply who he was. Keshan gave of himself even while carrying his own burdens and battling his own health condition. At work, he was someone people could count on—a good listener who made others feel heard, valued, and cared for. His compassion extended far beyond the workplace. He quietly fed those experiencing homelessness because he believed everyone deserved kindness and dignity. And when his dear Godmother, Lorlene Greer, needed someone to care for her, Keshan moved to Florida and willingly put his own life on hold to be there for her. He served because his heart told him it was the right thing to do. What gave Keshan even greater strength was his faith in God. His faith made him fearless. He trusted God enough to step into difficult situations, make sacrifices, and serve others without fear of what it might cost him. Even while facing his own challenges, he continued to show courage, love, and compassion. Today, we grieve because we wish we had more time with him. But we can also be grateful for the life he lived and the lives he touched. Keshan showed us that true strength is not found in being recognized—it is found in loving, serving, listening, and giving when no one is watching. His life may have been quiet, but his impact was powerful. His kindness, his faith, and his selfless love will continue to live through everyone he touched. So today, we don't simply say goodbye. We say thank you. Thank you, Keshan, for showing us what selfless love looks like. Thank you for serving others with humility and courage. And thank you for reminding us that when we place our faith in God, we can face even life's greatest challenges without fear. Rest peacefully, Keshan. Your work here is done, but your love, your faith, and your legacy of compassion will live on forever.
