Kerry Alan Miya

Kerry Alan Miya, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2026, after another courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 6, 1950, in Ogden, Utah, Kerry was the son of the late Hideo and Betty Miya, who instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. A graduate of Clearfield High School, class of 1968, Kerry went on to serve his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1976. During his service, he was a member of the First Cavalry and served bravely in the Vietnam War, earning several medals for his valor and commitment. In 1970, Kerry married the love of his life, Vicki Hodgman, in Elko, Nevada. Their union of 56 years was a testament to their enduring love and partnership. He is survived by his wife, children Troy (Carolina) Miya and Tracy (Scott) Call, also his three grandchildren and brother Ed (Jayme) Miya. Kerry began his professional journey by joining the family business, World Wide Packaging, in 1973. Through hard work and perseverance, he rose to become the company's president, a role he held until 2001 when he retired following his first battle with cancer. Despite the challenges, Kerry's leadership and vision were instrumental in the company's success. Outside of work, Kerry was a man of many passions. He volunteered as a coach for his son Troy's little league baseball team, cherishing the opportunity to create lasting memories with his children. An avid sportsman, he played softball with his friends for several years. He loved hunting and fishing with his buddies and golfing with his family, "you had to use two hands to count how many holes-in-one he had". Kerry also enjoyed the thrill of the casino, which he fondly referred to as his second home. Kerry's life will be celebrated on September 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Lindquist Mortuary, located at 1867 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, UT 84041. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, an organization close to Kerry's heart. The Miya family extends their deepest gratitude to the hospice nurses at Omniacare for their compassionate care and support during Kerry's final days. His legacy of love, courage, and kindness will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
