With profound sadness, we announce the untimely passing of K’Eric Nelson, who left this world far too soon on April 1, 2026, at the tender age of 12. Born on June 29 th, 2013, in East St. Louis, K’Eric was a beacon of joy and energy, lighting up the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter and boundless enthusiasm.
K’Eric was the beloved son of Kamilya Epps and Frencheric Nelson, who cherished him deeply and supported him in all his endeavors. Despite his short time with us, K’Eric made an indelible mark on his family and community, remembered for his vibrant spirit and the dreams he held dear.
His educational journey began at Gordon Bush Elementary School, where he first stepped into the classroom in the first grade. His bright mind and curious nature took him to Wyvetter Young in third grade, before returning to Gordon Bush for his seventh-grade year. K’Eric’s teachers and classmates will remember him as a diligent student with a love for learning and an ever-present smile.
K’Eric was known for his love of gaming, a passion that allowed him to connect with friends near and far, and his athletic prowess, particularly his dream of one day becoming a basketball star. Those who knew him will fondly remember his excitement for playing video games and his frequent visits to JJk, where his laughter was often heard echoing through the halls.
A devoted son, K’Eric is predeceased by his father, his younger brother, and two older brothers, all of whom he held close in heart and spirit. The love he shared with his family will forever be treasured and remembered, and his legacy of joy and hope will continue to inspire those who knew him.
