Keonte Antonio Deshawn Woods
September 18, 1994 — February 9, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Keonte Antonio Deshawn Woods, a cherished son, husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on September 18, 1994, in the vibrant town of Oakland, California, Keonte left us all too soon on February 9, 2026. His journey, though brief, was impactful and filled with love, laughter, and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Keonte was the beloved son of Leah Freeman and Kent Woods, both residing in Vallejo, California. His early years in Oakland were marked by a joyful spirit and an innate kindness, qualities that would define him throughout his life. Keonte's educational path took him through John F. Kennedy High School, where he graduated in 2012, before pursuing further studies at Contra Costa College.
In his professional life, Keonte found fulfillment and camaraderie as a concrete finisher, proudly serving as a member of the Local 300 Plasterers' and Cement Masons Union. However, it was his passion for music and community that truly defined him. Since 2012, he was known as a talented local Bay Area rapper, whose lyrics resonated with many. In recent years, Keonte dedicated his time to coaching youth football in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he became a mentor and guiding light to countless young athletes.
A man of faith, Keonte was a devoted member of the Gloryland Apostolic Cathedral in Richmond, California. Filled with the Holy Spirit in 2009, his faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and solace to him and those around him.
Keonte's life was a tapestry of relationships woven with love. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Marquita Zeigler, with whom he built a home filled with laughter and warmth over their 13 years together. Their union was blessed with two sons, Noah (11) and Israel (3), who were the light of his life. As a father, Keonte was endlessly devoted, taking immense joy in spending time with his boys, coaching them not just in sports, but in life.
He is survived by his loving parents, Leah and Kent, his wife Marquita, and his treasured sons. Keonte's legacy is also carried on by his five sisters—Aisha Woods, Tyechia Woods, Denisha Bernstine, Bailey Lucas, and Ebonie Woods—and brothers, Kent Woods II, Romello Woods, and Diallo Woods. He leaves behind a host of extended family members, including seven nieces, three nephews, five bonus sisters, three bonus brothers, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Preceding him in death was his brother, Willie Bernstine IV, whose memory he cherished deeply.
Keonte was known for his quick wit, warm smile, and a heart full of generosity. He possessed a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, always ready with a joke to lift spirits or a kind word to offer comfort. His legacy of kindness and community will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Keonte's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to support his children's future at https://gofund.me/cc370255c, ensuring that the love and guidance Keonte provided will continue to nurture his sons in the years to come.
