December 27, 1972 — October 22, 2026

Kenneth Wade Mimes, Jr., affectionately known as "Butch" to his family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and authenticity that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Born on December 27, 1972, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Kenneth grew up surrounded by love and community, values he carried with him throughout his life. Butch was the cherished son of Kenneth Wade Mimes Sr. and the late Alice Marie Mimes. Though he faced the profound loss of his mother, and his beloved bonus parents, Fred Tuner and Twana Shepherd, Butch remained a pillar of strength and resilience. He is survived by his devoted father, Kenneth Wade Sr., and his brother Jon Mimes, who shared a bond that was both profound and enduring. His family circle extended to his three beloved bonus sisters, Kathy Sibley (Michael), Anita Tuner-Fontenot, and Carla Tuner, Niece Branda Shepherd and Jorde Mimes along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by his presence. A proud graduate of Harts Fill Elementary, Cullen Middle School, and Jake Yates High School, Butch was known for his sharp intellect and quick wit, qualities that made him unforgettable to those around him. His charismatic nature, though sometimes peppered with a sharp tongue, was always underpinned by a genuine kindness and heartfelt intentions. He was a man who stood out for his unique personality and the warmth he offered to those he held dear. Butch had a passion for life's simple joys. He loved playing dominoes and basketball, savoring the camaraderie and competition they brought. Music was another of his great loves, providing a soundtrack to cherished moments spent with family. Butch's approach to life was direct and sometimes rough around the edges, but beneath it all lay a heart that was generous and true. He leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends, including his special friend, Shanisha Manigo, who he cared for deeply. Each one carries a piece of his spirit with them, a testament to the impact he had on those around him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in memory of Kenneth Wade Mimes, Jr., to a charity of your choice, celebrating his life by giving back to the community as he so often did in his own way. Butch's life, though cut short, was a vibrant tapestry of love, laughter, and individuality. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories and the love he shared, knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
