Kenneth Vercher, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2026, cradled in the love of his family. Born on March 17, 1952, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Kenneth brought light and laughter into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. A dedicated and hardworking individual, Kenneth devoted 39 years of his life to serving as a bus driver for the Atlanta Public Schools. Throughout his career, he was more than just a driver; he was a guiding figure to countless children, known for his warm smile and caring nature. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his dedication to his community, as he was an active member of the Peoples Tabernacle Baptist Church, where his presence will be dearly missed. Kenneth was known for his quick wit and smart mouth, a characteristic that endeared him to many and made him the life of any gathering. His sense of humor was matched only by the depth of his love for his family. He was a great father and friend, offering wisdom and support whenever it was needed. His legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 37 years, Carrie Sue, and his daughter Katrina Smith. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. Preceded in death by his mother, Viola Owen’s, father Kenneth Sr., and son Donald, Kenneth’s family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with them in peace. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support that will continue to inspire those who knew him. In keeping with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Kenneth's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Kenneth's memory. As we remember Kenneth, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and joy. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
