KENNETH SMITH SR.

It is with profound sadness yet with a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Kenneth Smith Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Kenneth passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years old. Born on October 16, 1954, to Richard and Eula Belle Smith, Kenneth was raised in a home filled with love and strong values. he attended Parker High School now known as Paul Robeson High School; He graduated in 1972 where he enlisted in the United States Army serving a tour of duty where Kenneth received an honorable discharge. His parents instilled in him a sense of integrity, kindness, and strength that he carried throughout his life. He is now reunited with his parents and his dear sister, Jacqueline L. Owens, who predeceased him. Kenneth shared a beautiful journey through life with his devoted wife, Darlene Whooper. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership. Together, they built a home rooted in love and resilience. Kenneth was the proud father of three children: Kendra Shelby, Kenneth Maurice (Tonya), and Joel Peacock. His children remember him as a pillar of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. Kenneth took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren: Kenneth Jr. (KJ), Keyon, and Kobe. He cherished spending time with them, sharing stories of the past, and creating fun memories that will last a lifetime. He is also survived by his brother Radford (Veronica) Smith, brother-in-law Alex Owens (Jacqueline), and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends who will greatly miss his warmth and humor. Kenneth's extended family and friends were always welcomed with open arms, and he had an incredible ability to make everyone laugh and feel valued and loved. Kenneth's life was a testament to the power of love, community, and resilience. He was a man of quiet strength and gentle wisdom, who believed in the importance of helping others. His legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In honor of Kenneth's memory, the family kindly requests that his memory of laughter and love continues to live on. A celebration of Kenneth's life will be held on July 24, 2026 to be Hann Funeral Home, Bridgeview, Il from 3pm til 6 pm. where family and friends will gather to honor his remarkable life and the indelible mark he left on the world. Kenneth Smith will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
