It is with profound sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of Kenneth Carlos Sims, a cherished soul whose life was a symphony of love, laughter, and music. Born on July 1, 1951, in East Cleveland, Carlos departed from this world on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him. Carlos was the beloved son of Emory Sims Sr. and Minister Mary Kendricks Sims, who undoubtedly instilled in him the values of compassion and community that he carried throughout his life. Educated within the Cleveland Municipal School District, Carlos not only shone academically but also discovered his lifelong passion for music—a passion that would guide and define his vibrant journey. In the mid-1980s, Carlos embarked on a musical odyssey that saw him form the band Inner Circle and join Jake and Eddie Blues Review. His talents knew no bounds, and his extraordinary ability to perform and sing was matched only by his skill with instruments. Carlos could make the guitar, keyboard, and drums sing with a voice all their own, captivating audiences with performances that were less concerts and more experiences of pure joy. Beyond the stage, Carlos was a devoted member of the construction industry, where his dedication and tireless work ethic shone through. Yet, it was his music that expressed the core of his being, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to hear him play. His exuberant personality and unique sense of humor brought joy and laughter to all around him, a testament to his generous spirit and zest for life. Carlos's heart and home were filled with the love of his surviving family: Virginique Whitmore, Markeza Davis (Kevin), Asma Chaney, Kenyisha Chaney (Michael Ball), Carlos Chaney, Mariqah Chaney, Kahlina Wright (Edward), Aliciana Chaney, D'Mario Chaney, D'Carlo Chaney, Kenneth D. Sims, and Marque Sims. His life was further enriched by the laughter and love of his 27 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who will forever remember him as a source of wisdom, humor, and unconditional love. A host of nieces, nephews, and close friends will miss his vibrant presence dearly. In honoring Carlos's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all who have been a part of Carlos's life journey. As he joins the celestial symphony, we find comfort in knowing that his music, his laughter, and his love will forever echo in our hearts. "Forever in our hearts," his family lovingly declares, a sentiment that captures the essence of a man who lived fully and loved deeply. Carlos Sims's legacy will endure, a beautiful melody that continues to inspire and uplift those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
