Kenneth Atkins

Kenneth Atkins, born on October 17, 1958, in Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026. Kenneth lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and a touch of rebellion, which left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Kenneth was the beloved son of the late Kenneth and Francis Lee Atkins, and the cherished brother of the late Barbara Jean Atkins. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Sherri Taylor, who stood by his side through all of life's adventures. Together, they raised a loving family that became Kenneth's pride and joy. He leaves behind his children, Christine Fleshman, Christopher Atkins, Cheryl Oliver, and Tiffany Carter, who carry forward his legacy with love and honor. Kenneth was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Cody, Cameron, Justin, Andrew, Anthony, Michael, Savannah, and Kaylynn. Kenneth's siblings, Brenda Ayers, Pamela Kaiser, and Juanita Atkins, will forever cherish his memory and the unique bond they shared. Throughout his life, Kenneth wore many hats. He was a painter by trade, a role that allowed him to express his creativity and skill. Later, he became a scrap metal hauler, a testament to his willingness to take on any challenge to provide for his family. Kenneth was known to embrace life with a free spirit, enjoying fishing, the occasional smoke, and the camaraderie of good friends and lively parties. Kenneth lived life on his own terms, characterized by his unique sense of humor and an unwavering spirit of independence. He was, as those who knew him would say, truly a character. In accordance with his family's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. Friends and family are encouraged to send flowers directly to Sherri Taylor. Kenneth’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. In honor of Kenneth's memory, donations can be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and love for his community. Kenneth will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
