It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenicia Leshay Taylor, a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend, who left us on October 8, 2026. Born on February 24, 1993, in Durham, North Carolina, Kenicia was a radiant soul who touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Kenicia was the cherished daughter of Kenneth Taylor and Felicia. She is lovingly remembered by her father Kenneth, her devoted mother Felicia, her brother Kenneth, and her sister Kanaya. She leaves behind her grandmother Beverly Taylor, who played a significant role in raising her alongside Beverly's husband, Eddie. Kenicia was also blessed to have known the love of her great-grandmother and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
A graduate of Riverside High School, Kenicia was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter. She was a proud attendee of the Rainbow Community Center, where she found joy and camaraderie among like-minded individuals. Kenicia had a great passion for music, often finding solace and inspiration in its melodies. She delighted in watching TV and taking joy rides, cherishing the simple pleasures of life with an open heart.
Kenicia's presence was a source of warmth and kindness, as she never met a stranger. Her loving nature was complemented by her playful spirit; she was known for her light-hearted banter and her ability to bring smiles to those around her. Her genuine care for others and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a treasured friend and companion.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Kenicia's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Kenicia's memory to any organization or cause that celebrates her love for community and music.
Kenicia Leshay Taylor's beautiful soul may have departed from this earth, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the joy and love she brought into our lives. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
