Kendra was a beacon of light and an embodiment of resilience. She was predeceased by her beloved father, John Softly, whose memory she carried fondly. Her spirit lives on through her devoted son, Mason K. Softly, and her loving siblings, Jacqueline Hitchens (Ruddie), Rodney Mayfield (Lenore), Megan Robicheaux (Craig), and Holli Hitchens (Anthony). Kendra's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them, continuously nurturing bonds that will endure eternally. A proud graduate of David W. Carter High School, Kendra exhibited an early passion for science and discovery. She pursued this passion further, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Texas in 2003. Her academic journey did not stop there, as she went on to obtain a Master's of Science from West Coast University, reflecting her relentless pursuit of knowledge and excellence. Kendra's life was marked by her dedicated service to her country. She served in the United States Army from 2002 to 2012, where her commitment and courage were evident to all who served alongside her. Her military service was a testament to her dedication to protecting and serving others, a virtue she carried into every aspect of her life. Beyond her professional and service accomplishments, Kendra was a nurturing friend and a compassionate neighbor. She had an innate ability to lift the spirits of those around her, and her laughter often filled rooms with warmth. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Kendra Diane Softly's life will be commemorated on June 16, 2026, at 10:08 a.m. at the Laurel Land Funeral Home, located on South R.L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas, Texas. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Kendra are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable journey and the indelible impact she left on the hearts of many. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
