With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for the life he led, we announce the passing of Keith Norwood, who departed this world on June 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Keith's journey began in a place where family values and a deep sense of community shaped the remarkable individual he would become.
Keith was a beacon of strength and integrity, values he carried with him throughout his life. A proud graduate of Baton Rouge Public High School in 1968, Keith's commitment to service was evident early on. He dedicated 22 years of his life to the United States Armed Forces, achieving the esteemed rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His dedication to his country was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, whom he cherished deeply.
In 1971, Keith married his beloved Martha in Baton Rouge, and together they built a life rooted in love and mutual respect. Their union was blessed with the joy of a son, Kenneth Norwood, who, along with his wife Christina, brought immeasurable happiness into Keith's life. Keith rejoiced in the gift of family, especially his three cherished grandchildren, including his grandson Anakyn Norwood, who brought light and laughter into his days.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, Martin Scott Norwood and Joseph Norwood, and his siblings Kevin Norwood, Cynthia Norwood, and Brenda Norwood. He found solace in the memories they shared and carried their spirits with him throughout his life. His surviving family includes his devoted son Kenneth, his loving sister Josephine Norwood, and his cherished grandchildren. Keith also leaves behind his close friends, Mark and Susan Matsumoto, whose friendship was a source of strength and joy.
A man of unwavering faith, Keith was a pillar of his community and a guiding light to all who knew him. His compassion extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was an avid supporter of the Salvation Army, a testament to his selfless nature and desire to uplift others.
A service to honor and celebrate Keith's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Love Church, located at 1421 S Lockwood. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose legacy will continue to inspire and guide those he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith's memory can be made to the Salvation Army, reflecting his enduring commitment to helping those in need.
