In loving memory of Kay F. Odom, who peacefully departed this world on June 3, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by the warmth of her home and the love of her family. Born on April 15, 1934, in the charming town of Tyner, North Carolina, Kay's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. Kay was the cherished daughter of the late John Richard and Willie B. Twine. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Hezekiah Walton, her dear sisters Rosalie Jordan, Merlene Viola Twine, and her adopted sister Alice Gatling. Her adored late husband, Fredrick (Fred) Douglas Odom, with whom she shared a beautiful union beginning in June of 1954, and her precious daughter Willie Kay Odom also await her in eternal peace. Kay was a pillar of strength and love for her surviving family, who will continue to honor her legacy. Her children, Gloria Miles-Holt (James) of Glen Burnie, MD, Sharlene Fulwood (John) of Elizabeth City, NC, and son Hezekiah Odom, along with former daughter-in-law Kimberly Hill-Odom, will forever hold her memory close. Her spirit lives on in her four grandchildren and an impressive 17 great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love and wisdom. A proud alumna of the one-room schoolhouse on Highway 32 in Chowan County, North Carolina, Kay's educational journey was the foundation for a life filled with learning and sharing. She found joy as an Avon representative, where her friendly nature turned customers into lifelong friends. Kay's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She was a devoted member of First Corinthians Baptist Church and later Greater White Rock Baptist Church, where her voice graced both the regular and senior choirs. From a young age, she was baptized at Greater Welches Chapel Baptist Church, and her dedication continued through her service on the seniors choir and various fundraising committees. Family gatherings were the highlight of Kay's life, where her culinary talents shone. Her mac and cheese, chicken salad, chitterlings, and famous pig-picking cake were legendary and filled every occasion with warmth and joy. Music was another passion, and she found great solace and happiness in the soulful tunes of B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Joe Simon, and others. Known for her mischievous spirit, Kay delighted in pulling pranks and sharing laughter with her loved ones. A celebration of Kay's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Jordan Twine Family Cemetery, located at 3736 Virginia Road. The family extends a heartfelt invitation to all who knew her to join in honoring her remarkable life. In her final message to her family and friends, Kay leaves these words of comfort: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27 Kay F. Odom's life was a symphony of love, laughter, and faith. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
