With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Katrina "LuLu" Edwards, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 17, 2026, at a hospital in her cherished hometown of Richmond, Virginia. Born on February 25, 1979, Katrina brought light into this world with a spirit that touched everyone she met. Katrina was the treasured daughter of the late Regina and James Edwards, who have preceded her in death and now lovingly welcome their beloved daughter to rest among the stars. Her life was a testament to the strength and love imparted by her parents, and she honored their memory in all she did. Katrina was the devoted mother to three wonderful children: Khmya Edwards, her eldest; Demonte Edwards, her only son; and Talia Edwards, her youngest. Her children were her pride and joy, and her love for them knew no bounds. Her legacy continues through her two precious grandchildren, Ailah and Amir Edwards, who brought her endless happiness and laughter. Katrina's journey began in Richmond, where she graduated from John Marshall High School. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for helping others led her to extend her education at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014, where she pursued studies in nursing and medicine. Her dedication to science and her compassionate nature made her a beacon of hope and healing for all she encountered. A private funeral ceremony will be held in accordance with Katrina's wishes and those of her children. In a final act of giving, Katrina chose to donate her body to VCU for medical study, reflecting her lifelong passion for science and her desire to contribute to the betterment of humanity even in death. Katrina Edwards will be remembered for her kindness, her infectious smile, and her unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her and be touched by her warmth and generosity. To honor Katrina's legacy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations that support medical research and education, ensuring that her spirit of discovery and compassion continues to inspire future generations.
