Kathy L. Pollick, a beloved mother, sister, teacher, and friend, peacefully departed this world on May 18, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on February 26, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, Kathy's life was a journey of love and service, marked by an indomitable spirit and a heart full of compassion.
Kathy was the cherished daughter of Homer C. Pollick and Dorothy L. Pollick, who predeceased her. She grew up surrounded by the warmth of family, alongside her siblings Clarie Davis, Peggy Ireland, Donna Morrison, and Michael Pollick. Kathy's roots in Kansas City laid the foundation for a life dedicated to nurturing and helping others.
A proud graduate of Raytown High School in 1979, Kathy embarked on her life's work with D&D Small World Montessori, where she dedicated 32 remarkable years to shaping the minds and hearts of young children. She began her career as the school's cook, where her nurturing spirit was evident in every meal she prepared. It wasn't long before she transitioned into a teaching role, where her true passion lay. Ms. Pollick's classroom was a place where every child felt like her own, as she treated her students with the love and care of a grandmother.
Her contributions to their early education and her genuine affection left an indelible mark on countless young lives, creating a legacy of love and learning that will continue to bloom for generations.
Outside the classroom, Kathy was an avid gardener, finding joy in the simple act of planting and nurturing life. Her garden was a testament to her love for nature, producing an abundance of flowers and vegetables that she generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Her green thumb and giving heart brought beauty and sustenance to all who knew her.
Kathy also possessed a sense of adventure that led her to explore the world. Alongside her son, she traveled to 14 states and 9 countries, embracing new cultures and experiences with enthusiasm and wonder. Her travels were a testament to her zest for life and her appreciation for the diverse tapestry of humanity.
Known for her caring and warm smile, Kathy had an extraordinary gift for making both children and adults feel welcome, valued, and loved. Her kindness was a beacon of light, guiding those around her through times of joy and sorrow alike. Her genuine care and willingness to lend a helping hand left an impression on all who were fortunate to cross her path.
Kathy is survived by her beloved son, Christopher Pollick, who was the light of her life and her greatest joy. Christopher wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care during Kathy's final days.
In accordance with her wishes, a private memorial ceremony will be held to honor Kathy's life and legacy. Her son invites those who knew and loved her to cherish her memory in their own personal ways, celebrating the impact she had on their lives.
