With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Kathy Kay Reavis Edwards, beloved wife, mother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on January 1, 1959, in Hickory, NC, Kathy was the cherished daughter of the late Glade and Margie Miller Reavis. She was preceded in death by her parents, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life.
Kathy's life was a testament to love, care, and a boundless spirit that never met a stranger. She was a devoted wife to Tim Edwards, her loving partner with whom she shared countless memories and adventures. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family, raising three incredible daughters, Amber McGalliard, Krystal Kemp, and Robyn Hudson, who were her pride and joy. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds.
A dedicated professional, Kathy worked in retail, where her warm smile and friendly demeanor made every customer feel welcome and valued. Beyond her professional life, Kathy was a passionate advocate for animal welfare, particularly cats. She was deeply involved in pet rescues, finding joy and purpose in giving a voice to the voiceless. Her home was often a sanctuary for stray and abandoned cats, and she took great pride in nurturing them back to health and happiness.
Kathy's hobbies and interests reflected her open heart and generous spirit. She never met a stranger, and her ability to find common ground with anyone she encountered was a testament to her innate kindness and empathy. Her life was a living embodiment of Proverbs 12:10: "A righteous man cares for the needs of his animals," a sentiment that resonated deeply with her family and all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on March 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Bass-Smith Funeral Home - Lower Bldg. Jack Bass Memorial Bldg., located at 334 Second Street, Hickory, NC 28601. Family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched are warmly invited to attend and share their memories and stories of a truly remarkable woman.

Her legacy of compassion and care for animals will continue through the support of this meaningful cause.
