Kathryn Lyn Gordon

March 21, 1981 — June 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Kathryn Lyn Gordon, known to many as Katie, who left this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 45. She passed peacefully in the comforting embrace of her family after a brief yet valiant battle with cancer, a testament to her enduring strength and grace. Born on March 21, 1981, in Grand Rapids, MI, Katie was the beloved daughter of Lyn and Rudy Gonzales. Her early years were filled with love and laughter, nurtured by her grandparents, Wilford and Sybil Nickel, and Mike and Celia Gonzales, who preceded her in death. Katie shared a close bond with her brother, Daniel Gonzales, who survives her. Katie's life was a tapestry of love and achievement. She was a proud graduate of Forest Hills Northern High School, Class of 1996, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in business from Central Michigan University. Her dedication and intelligence found a perfect match in her career as an underwriter at 53 Bank, where she worked faithfully for 17 years. Katie's colleagues will remember her not only for her professionalism but also for her sunshine-filled presence that could uplift even the most mundane of meetings. On February 19, 2005, in her beloved Grand Rapids, Katie married Andrew Gordon, her partner in life and love. Together they built a beautiful life in Ada, MI, raising three remarkable children: Mason, Madlyn, and Minnie. Her family was the heart of her world, and she poured her boundless love and energy into their lives, creating a home filled with warmth and joy. Katie's passions extended beyond her family and career. She was a devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Pistons, cheering them on with an enthusiasm that was infectious. Her love for sports was more than a pastime; it was a way to connect with those she loved, sharing countless games and memories. Known for her radiant spirit and a heart that embraced everyone, Katie had the unique ability to light up a room simply by being in it. Her joy for life was palpable and inspiring, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had an uncanny knack for making others feel better, even on their darkest days, a testament to her compassionate nature. Katie's legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering kindness. Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband, Andrew, her children, Mason, Madlyn, and Minnie, her brother, Daniel, and all those whose lives she touched. Though her time with us was far too brief, her impact was profound and enduring. As we say goodbye to our dear Katie, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to shine brightly, guiding us with her love and laughter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A celebration of Katie's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a cancer research charity of your choice, in hopes of bringing hope and healing to others. Rest in peace, dear Katie. Your light will continue to illuminate our hearts.
