In loving memory, we announce the passing of Kathryn Jeppsen Eargle, who departed from this world on June 11, 2026, at the age of 67. Kathryn's final days were spent surrounded by love and care at the Coventry Senior Living Center in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where she gracefully concluded her long battle with dementia. Kathryn was born on January 6, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Dr. Malcolm and Marian Jeppsen. Her early years were marked by a spirit of adventure and a passion for learning, qualities that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1977, and soon after, her journey took her to Brigham Young University. In 1979, she embraced an opportunity to study abroad in Israel, a transformative experience that enriched her worldview. In 1981, Kathryn embarked on a full-time mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia, where she became fluent in Spanish. Her mission was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to serving others, traits that remained with her always. Upon returning to the United States, she completed her studies at BYU, graduating in 1983 with a degree in elementary education. Kathryn's career began at Franklin Elementary School in Salt Lake City, where she taught grades 3-6. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds was evident in every classroom she entered. In 1985, her professional journey led her to the T-Bear Foundation and then to Bristol Myers in Washington, D.C., where destiny introduced her to Bill Eargle. The two married on February 20, 1987, in the Salt Lake City Temple, embarking on a marriage filled with love, adventure, and music. Music was the melody of Kathryn's life. Her Petrof piano, a cherished family heirloom, remains a testament to her love for teaching and playing the piano. Kathryn found immense joy in guiding students of all ages, delighting in the recitals where her pupils showcased their talents. Her passion extended to baking, where she and her daughter Jessica crafted the most delectable Nestlé chocolate cookies and heavenly apple and strawberry pies. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kathryn served faithfully in various capacities, including as the Young Women's President of the Springfield Ward in the Annandale Stake of Virginia. Her love for missionary work was profound, and she creatively shared the scriptures with family and friends, embodying her commitment to her faith. Kathryn is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Bill, and their children: David (Maren), Katie (Andrew), Jessica, and Mary Rose. She leaves behind six cherished grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her sister Christine and brothers Robert, John, and David mourn her passing, as do extended family members Bob and Carolyn Allen, whose presence brightened Kathryn's days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Malcolm and Marian Jeppsen, and her sister Julie Ellen. A service to honor Kathryn's beautiful life will be held on June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, located at 1950 E 1060 S, Sandy, Utah 84092.
